Job Title: Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Coordinator

Position Summary: 

The Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of continuing professional education programs for educators and staff at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and the districts it supports. This position ensures that all professional development initiatives are aligned with state regulations, AIU or district needs, and the latest educational trends. The CPE Coordinator works collaboratively with agency leaders, external partners, and instructional staff to provide high-quality learning opportunities that promote professional growth and improve educational outcomes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:       

·        Program Development & Coordination:

    • Develop, coordinate, and implement continuing professional education (CPE) programs, workshops, seminars, and courses based on the needs of educators, administrators, and staff.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and trainers to create meaningful learning experiences that support the district's educational goals.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CPE programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Compliance & Certification:
    • Ensure that all CPE programs meet the certification requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and other relevant accrediting bodies.
    • Track educator participation and ensure the accurate recording of continuing education credits (CEUs), Act 48, and Act 45 hours.
    • Maintain detailed records of course offerings, participation data, and certifications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as a liaison between the AIU, educators, and external organizations, including universities, educational consultants, and state agencies, to enhance professional development opportunities.
    • Communicate regularly with district leaders and educators to assess ongoing professional development needs.
    • Promote CPE opportunities through various channels (e.g., newsletters, websites, meetings).
  • Budget & Resource Management:
    • Assist in developing and managing the professional development budget, including monitoring expenditures and ensuring cost-effective program delivery.
    • Identify and secure grant funding or other resources to support CPE initiatives where applicable.
    • Manages third-party gateway applications to ensure workshop and tuition payments are securely remitted.
  • Technology Integration:
    • Utilize learning management systems (LMS) and other digital platforms to deliver and track professional development programs.
    • Support educators in accessing online courses and virtual learning opportunities.
  • Research & Innovation:
    • Stay informed about current trends and innovations in professional learning, adult education, and pedagogy.
    • Continuously assess and adopt best practices in professional development to enhance instructional strategies and student outcomes.

Qualifications:     

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, professional development, or program coordination.
    • Familiarity with Pennsylvania Act 48 requirements and continuing education processes for educators preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple programs and stakeholders simultaneously.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals, including educators, administrators, and external partners.
    • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems (LMS), data management tools, and virtual meeting platforms.
    • Ability to analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

 

Additional Requirements:   

1.      Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).

2.      School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

3.      Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
