Job Title: Head Start Specialist for Facilities, Health, Wellness and Safety

 Position Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring that program services are provided to families with children with health needs. The Head Start Specialist for Facilities, Health, Wellness and Safety develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates services and methods for both staff and families in providing the overall health approach in the program. This position works within an interdisciplinary team setting with other Head Start staff, using case-management protocols that integrate service areas, to address identified concerns for children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Liaise and coordinate activities for Head Start facilities with the fiscal administrators for facilities, including moves, emergencies, and work order follow-up.

2.     Liaise and coordinate activities for the program-side of safety with the fiscal administrators for safety, including Go-Kits, emergencies plans, safety meetings, and follow-up.

3.     Liaise and coordinate community partner engagement for health, including MOUs, with a focus

on dental, EPSDT, and Managed Care Organizations.

4.     Liaise and coordinate activities with the ECFCS Nutrition/Safety/Compliance Specialist for all CACFP activities and monitoring.

5.     Reviews and assists in the completion of monitoring for health and safety, meal monitoring, health plans, emergency plans, weather drills, and other relevant data.

6.     Contributes to the program through other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.     Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Human Services, or CNA, or similar field or 2 years relevant experience deemed appropriate; experience with structured child care programs and training preferred.

2.     Training and presentation skills; ability to speak in front of large group settings

3.     Must be attentive to detail, well organized, able to work under pressure, and able to meet frequent and changing deadlines.

4.     Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.

5.     Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills; effective collaborator and negotiator.

6.     Ability to work independently, working proactively and taking initiative to achieve desired results.

7.     Customer service skills including attentiveness, problem-solving, flexibility, and anticipating program needs and challenges

8.     Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.

9.     Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct Policy.

Additional Requirements:

 

1.     Current Act 114, Act 34 and Act 151 required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).

2.     School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340 (8/2011)) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
