Job Title: Preschool Early Intervention Supervisor of Special Education

Position Summary:

This position is accountable for ensuring appropriate evaluations and progress monitoring are occurring for children eligible for preschool early intervention services and for planning, implementing, coordinating and supervising the delivery of educational services for these children in order to ensure that the Individualized Education Program (IEP) of each child is met and services are being implemented as written in the child's IEP.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Supervises professional staff who provide diagnostic and educational services and supervises paraprofessional staff who provide supportive services to preschool students with disabilities and/or aide in classroom preparations. Observes, confers with and evaluates staff, initiating progressive disciplinary measures when necessary.

 

2.      Reviews and edits Evaluation Reports and serves as Preschool Early Intervention representative (LEA) in IEP meetings to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations in meeting the needs of new and continuing students. Facilitates meetings with parents and community agencies as indicated and provides ongoing support as needed.

 

3.      Collaborates with Human Resources to conduct interviews and select staff. Assigns long-term substitute personnel when appropriate.

 

4.      Prepares and assigns student caseloads to staff members in order to provide maximum services to students in the most efficient manner.

 

5.      Plans, coordinates, and/or presents professional development activities to keep staff current in new and effective practices, program procedures, laws and regulations.

 

6.      Facilitates Kindergarten transition meetings with families and district representatives to assist in the systematic transition of students into school age settings.

 

7.      Facilitates communication with program staff, district personnel, parents, early care and education part

 

8.      Collaborates with other AIU departments and participates on AIU committees to further the goals of the organization, as appropriate.

 

9.      Provides technical support, observes, and evaluates ASHA Clinical Fellows (if appropriate). Coordinates student teacher placements with universities.

1.      Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education, Speech and Language Impairment, or Early Intervention

2.      PA Supervisory Certification in Special Education

3.      Master’s Degree in the area of Special Education or Related Services

4.      Minimum of 5 years of experience working in special education or early intervention

5.      Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Ability to learn new technologies and databases required.

6.      Effective verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation skills required.

7.      Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple initiatives required.

8.      Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups; able to promote high expectations and high quality for all staff.

9.      Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, while remaining logical and interpersonal.

10.   Demonstrated ability and experience in working as a member of a team required.

11.   Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.

12.   Data-driven decision making skills.

13.   Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

14.   Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.

15.   Knowledge and experience with virtual meeting platforms preferred.

16.   Valid PA Driver’s License

17.   Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct Policy.

Additional Requirements:

1.      Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR clearances are required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).

2.      School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
