Pupil Services: Long Term Substitute Social Worker, Moon (2 days/week)
Job Title: Social Worker
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for delivering individual and/or group counseling services in educational organizations to students, school staff and families for the purpose of enhancing the educational process. Responsibilities include providing education regarding mental health issues to the above constituents. This individual also acts to facilitate communication between home, school and community services for the purpose of sharing information so that all parties can work together on behalf of the student.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and act in a timely manner on assignments made by the Principal or Program Director of the program which the position is associated and the Assistant Director for Special Education and Pupil Services.
- Provide individual casework/consultation to students, families and school and agency staff.
- Conduct educational groups in a school setting for a variety of audiences including students, school staff and families. The topics of the group sessions relate to mental health issues that impact learning, including topics such a bully prevention, grief and loss, and social skills.
- Serve as a resource to school staff and families for referral to appropriate community resources and assist these individuals to access the services.
- Deliver presentations and training to groups of students, school staff and families on topics pertaining to the education setting such as crisis prevention, bully prevention, home-school relationships and mental health related issues.
- Maintain regular communication with Principal, Program Director and Assistant Director of Special Education and Pupil Services through submission of a detailed weekly schedule, detailed time sheets and professional communication as directed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all professional activities and submit the documentation in a timely manner as required by Allegheny Intermediate Unit and Pupil Personnel policies and procedures.
- Available to provide services on an itinerant basis as needed.
- Pennsylvania Social Worker License required;
- Home and School Visitor Certification preferred;
- At least five (5) years of experience in a clinical and/or school setting preferred;
- Knowledge of educational systems required;
- Knowledge of community support agencies required;
- Demonstrated ability to use technological as a means of communication and document as required;
- Excellent organization skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision;
- Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible;
- Ability and experience working as a member of a team;
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, and willingness to e;
- Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct Policy.
